Yes to 87 per cent
The Coalition has only divided on 34 bills out of the 254 that have passed in the House of Representatives since the last election, Christopher Pyne, Manager of Opposition Business said today.
“This means the Coalition has said yes around 87 per cent of the time. We have allowed uncontroversial legislation through the Parliament, but voted against the policies that were not in the national interest,” Mr Pyne said.
“You don’t have to be Harry Jenkins to know that is exactly what an Opposition and alternative Government should be doing,” he said.
“However, the Coalition won’t be making any apologies for saying no to waste and mismanagement, no to higher costs of living, no to higher electricity prices and no to more of Labor’s tawdry political machinations,” Mr Pyne said.
