30 Nov 2018 Media release

Minister for Defence, the Hon Christopher Pyne MP joined the Premier of South Australia, the Hon Steven Marshall MP in the grand opening of REDARC Electronics’ expanded factory in South Australia today.

Minister Pyne said the expanded facility, which will be the home of advanced electronics manufacturing in the defence, automotive and mining sectors, is an exciting boost to the South Australian economy.

“This expansion, which was supported by a $2.5 million Federal Government grant via the Next Generation Manufacturing Investment Program, has seen an additional 3,000 square metres of manufacturing space and the installation of advanced manufacturing equipment,” Minister Pyne said.

“Located in suburban Lonsdale, the upgraded facility will allow REDARC to develop innovative products across a range of industries including defence – and to further expand its operations both domestically and internationally.”

Minister for Defence Industry, Steven Ciobo MP, also congratulated REDARC on the opening of their new facility.

“This is yet another vote of confidence in Australia’s defence industry,” Minister Ciobo said.

“A strong defence industry creates Australian jobs, with REDARC currently employing almost 200 South Australians and expecting this number to increase to over 300 by 2024.”

Minister Pyne and Minister Ciobo also congratulated REDARC for winning the Defence Teaming Centre ‘Resilient and Adaptive’ award earlier this month which recognised REDARC’s commitment to transformation, sustainability and innovation.
