Record number of university applications in 2015

Minister for Education and Training, the Hon Christopher Pyne MP, has welcomed the announcement of a record number of university applicants in 2015.

The Undergraduate Applications and Offers, February 2015 report shows 314,918 applications were lodged for university places in 2015.

“There are now, more than ever before, more and more Australian’s seeking to enrich their lives by pursuing a university education,” Mr Pyne said.

Year 12 applications through Tertiary Admissions Centres have increased by 1.3 per cent and more non-Year 12 applicants are applying directly to universities.

“Direct applications to university are up 6.8 per cent on last year, 96 per cent of which are non-Year 12 applicants.

“Universities are more accessible to a range of students than they have ever been. If you want to study but don’t fit the usual application process, our system has options for you to enter higher education,” Mr Pyne said.
