PM visits Bethany but will she tell them the truth?
While visiting Bethany Primary today, the Prime Minister and Schools Minister should explain to the parents and teachers present that they have yet to guarantee the school will receive the same level of funding indexation, meaning potentially higher school fees.
“Bethany Primary School in Ms Gillard’s electorate of Lalor stands to lose up to $2.1 million in funding if indexation is not maintained at current levels,” said Christopher Pyne, Shadow Minister for Education.
“This would be a $3,600 increase in school fees that parents would have to find,” he said.
“All the Prime Minister needs to do is stop obfuscating and guarantee indexation at current levels.
“The Government needs to be upfront with non-government schools they visit about the potential cuts under Labor.
“Until we have a guarantee that indexation will be maintained at current levels, every non-government school in Australia is on Labor’s private school hit-list.
“Only the Coalition is guaranteeing the full $4.2 billion in indexation, which will take the pressure off school fees and teacher’s jobs,” Mr Pyne said.
