New Future Fellowships round to open on 30 June

23 Jun 2015 Media release

The Australian Government today released the funding rules for the next round of the Future Fellowships scheme for mid-career researchers and announced applications for 50 fellowships would open next week on 30 June 2015.

The Minister for Education and Training, the Hon Christopher Pyne MP, said: “This Government has found the funding for 50 four-year Fellowships, securing this programme and ensuring our best researchers have opportunities to advance their work, benefiting our nation.

“The Government recognises the importance of the Future Fellowships scheme in holding on to our high-quality mid-career researchers and understands that the continuation of this scheme is essential to boosting Australia's research and innovation capacity.

The previous government defunded the Future Fellowship scheme, with funding running out this year.

“I am delighted we are continuing this important research programme, and have similarly found funding for the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy, safeguarding the jobs of 1,700 researchers, despite the fact that Labor left no money for it either.
