Minister for Defence Industry, the Hon Christopher Pyne MP, today launched the Defence Industry Service Commendation to recognise exceptional achievements within Australia’s defence industry.

Minister Pyne said the Commendation would be awarded to individuals or teams who demonstrate superior achievement or devotion in the application of skills, judgement, innovation or dedication to duty in Australian defence industry for the benefit of Australia’s defence capability.

"This award will be presented to high performing members of Australian defence industry as a way to recognise exceptional contributions supporting our war fighters and defence exports,” Minister Pyne said.

“The award provides an opportunity to recognise the work of both executives and project managers, as well as the work of skilled tradespeople who have given their careers to Defence Industry, such as welders and boilermakers.”

“Defence industry’s role as a fundamental input to capability continue to grow as the Government implements its $200 billion investment in a more potent, agile and capable ADF”

“Through this Commendation we not only recognise significant achievements by defence industry today, but encourage it to strive for the success we need to secure our nation’s future defence and economic prosperity”, Minister Pyne said.
