Minister Pyne welcomes Defence Market Seminar to Adelaide

15 May 2018 Media release

Minister for Defence Industry, the Hon Christopher Pyne MP, spoke to businesses today at the Adelaide ‘Introduction to the Defence Market’ seminar.

Today’s seminar is the final in a series of seminars delivered at 17 locations across the country by the Centre for Defence Industry Capability (CDIC), in partnership with defence industry stakeholders.

The seminars have built on the Government information campaign, ‘The Workforce behind the Defence Force’, and introduced businesses to the current and forthcoming opportunities in our defence industry.

Minister Pyne said the Government is committed to maximising the opportunities for Australian businesses, particularly innovative small and medium enterprises, to get involved in delivering our unprecedented investment in defence capability.

“The ‘Introduction to the Defence Market’ seminars support this goal by helping to remove barriers and increasing awareness of defence industry amongst local businesses,” Minister Pyne said.

“Across Australia, the Government’s $200 billion investment in defence capability is powering investment in innovation and creating new jobs.

“Here in South Australia our naval shipbuilding enterprise will create thousands of jobs and has the potential to transform South Australia’s economy.”

The CDIC provides advice and initiatives for defence industry development, critical business skilling, and export and innovation facilitation, to drive defence industry growth across the country.
