ISCA modelling confirms school fees up under Labor

The head of the Independent Schools Council of Australia (ISCA) has warned one in six Independent schools will be worse off under the Gillard Government school funding changes forcing up school fees and the cost of living for thousands of parents.

“Bill Daniels, head of ISCA is reported to have modelling showing a dramatic impact on the bottom line of hundreds of independent schools,” said the Shadow Minister for Education, Christopher Pyne.

“The Gillard Government’s class war and politics of envy is spilling over into the schools sector,” Mr Pyne said.

“How many other schools in other sectors will also be hit? How much more will parents have to pay under Labor?

“While the Schools Minister claims no school will lose a dollar, Mr Garrett will not guarantee indexation at current levels and he will not tell us how much Labor’s school funding changes will cost, nor how they will be paid for.

“Only the Coalition is offering schools certainty, guaranteeing the same quantum of funding and indexation,” Mr Pyne said.
