Garrett admits computers in schools delivery failure
In an astonishing admission, Peter Garrett has revealed in a press release that only 55 per cent of the promised computers from the computers in schools programme have been delivered after almost four years, Christopher Pyne, Shadow Minister for Education said today.
“Beginning in January 2008 this programme is meant to finish in December 2011, yet the Government has delivered only half of what was promised,” Mr Pyne said.
“It is a sorry state of affairs that the Minister responsible for the pink batts fiasco is now the Minister responsible for this programme and it beggars belief that Mr Garrett will deliver the remaining 45 per cent of computers to schools in just six months,” he said.
“However Mr Garrett has today made that promise and I would challenge him to commit to resigning as Minister for School Education if he fails to reach 100 per cent delivery by December this year,” Mr Pyne said.
