FEDERAL COALITION WELCOMES VICTORIAN GOVERNMENT FUNDING FOR INSIGHT EDUCATION CENTRE

Christopher Pyne, Shadow Minister for Education, and Senator Mitch Fifield, Shadow Minister Disabilities, have today welcomed the Victorian Coalition Government's funding of the Insight Education Centre for the Blind and Vision Impaired.

Premier Ted Baillieu has delivered on the Victorian Coalition's election commitment to provide $2.14 million in funding to Centre, which provides education to blind and vision impaired students in Melbourne.

The Insight Education Centre was established to help meet the additional educational needs of young blind people and to improve their learning outcomes.

The Victorian Coalition, and particularly Premier Ted Baillieu and Education Minister Martin Dixon, should be congratulated for fulfilling their commitment to this important cause.

Funding the Insight Education Centre will allow many Victorian students who are blind or vision impaired to access an education that will help them reach their full potential.

By committing this funding, the Baillieu Government has demonstrated its commitment to improving the educational outcomes of students with disability and providing parents with a real choice when it comes to selecting a school for their child.

Mr Pyne and Senator Fifield also recognised the unwavering support of colleague Greg Hunt MP, who has been an advocate of the Centre for many years.

The Federal Coalition committed to $2.2 million of funding for the Insight Education Centre during the 2010 federal election.
