The Australian Government is investing more than $20 million to fund 11 industry-led projects to develop a product, service or process that will solve problems for Australian industries as a part of the first round of the Cooperative Research Centre-Project (CRC-P) programme. All of the projects will receive at least matched industry funding.

The Minister for Industry, Innovation and Science, Christopher Pyne, today announced the 11 successful projects from a range of industries which will share in a total of $22.6 million in funding.

“The CRC-P programme highlights the Government’s commitment to innovation and the commercialisation of research which will drive jobs and growth in our economy.”

The projects selected to receive funding through the CRC-P stream include:

  • $1.6 million in funding to a collaboration led by SME Solarfast to produce printed solar films for value-added building products for Australia,
  • $2.48 million to developing a commercial scram-jet
  • $3 million to a national collaboration between industry and researchers to rebuild and grow Australia’s oyster industry

“Improving collaboration between researchers and industry to cultivate a more innovative and entrepreneurial economy is a key pillar of the Government’s National Innovation and Science Agenda,” Mr Pyne said.

“We’ve placed industry at the front and centre of the CRC Programme so we can build on our strengths in high quality research to improve the competitiveness, productivity and sustainability of Australian industries.”
