Another Productive week in Parliament for the Turnbull Government
Another productive week in Parliament for the Turnbull Government saw the delivery of a key election commitment to improve accountability and transparency of registered organisations.
Leader of the House of Representatives, the Hon Christopher Pyne MP, said the passage of the Senate’s amendments to the Registered Organisations Bill through the House of Representatives shows that while the Labor Party and the Greens would rather defend union rorters than protect union members, the government is working constructively with crossbench senators to deliver good policy.
“This reform has been held up by the Labor Party and the Greens in the Senate for over 3 years and its passage symbolises the Turnbull Government’s ability to get important reforms to public policy through the Senate,” Mr Pyne said.
“The government will continue to pursue the passage of our agenda and election commitments through the Senate next week – including legislation to re-establish the Australian Building and Construction Commission.”
