The Turnbull Government is making the right choices to secure better days ahead for South Australians.

Senior Cabinet Minister for South Australia, the Hon Christopher Pyne MP, said the budget contained further significant measures for the state, further backing up the government's investment through the $89 billion naval shipbuilding plan.

"The $89 billion naval shipbuilding plan is the largest single investment in any one state or territory in the history of the Commonwealth. It clearly shows the Turnbull Government's commitment to securing South Australia’s future for generations by creating more than 5000 direct jobs and thousands more across the supply chain," he said.

“In addition to this, in the budget there is a further $10 billion across education, health, infrastructure and industry," Mr Pyne said.

"This year's budget also focuses on energy security for South Australia through $36m in energy infrastructure and a $110m equity commitment for a solar thermal power plant in Port Augusta.

“In addition to this, many major road upgrades including the North-South Corridor and Flinderslink will see funding flow through during the 2017-2018 year.

"We continue to invest in jobs and in transitioning our state's economy to the lucrative advanced manufacturing sector through a new $100m Advanced Manufacturing Fund.

"The budget guarantees Medicare with the establishment of the Medicare Guarantee Fund which can only to be used to pay for Medicare and medicines.

"We are also fully funding the NDIS to secure the future for South Australians with disabilities.

The key budget measures for South Australia include:

  • In 2017-18, the Commonwealth is estimated to provide South Australia with $10.6 billion in total payments, including payments for specific purposes of $4.3 billion and general revenue assistance of $6.3 billion.
  • Schools in South Australia will receive a total of $16 billion over 10 years, with total funding growing from approximately $1.2 billion in 2017 to $2 billion in 2027.
  • $68 million in 2017-18 to support the establishment of a Proton Beam Therapy Facility.
  • $110m equity commitment to building solar thermal with storage in Port Augusta.
  • Funding of $36.6 million will be made available to the South Australian Government a for bilateral asset recycling agreement to support investment in energy infrastructure.
  • $100m Advanced manufacturing fund to help businesses in our transitioning economy.
  • The Commonwealth is committed to regulatory reform to make it easier for businesses to operate, providing incentives to remove unnecessary restrictions on competition and cut red tape through a National Partnership on Regulatory Reform. The Commonwealth will make available $300 million in funding over two years, from 2017-18, for the delivery of reforms that drive Australia’s economic performance, with a focus on small business deregulation.
  • North-South Corridor – Darlington interchange: $496 million with $198.7 million to be provided in 2017–18.
  • North-South Corridor – Torrens Road to River Torrens: $400. 5 million with $105.0 million in 2017–18.
  • North-South Corridor – Northern Connector: $708 million with $233.8 million to be provided in 2017–18.
  • Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands: $85 million with $23.8 million to be provided in 2017–18.
  • Flinderslink: $42.7 million with $36.3 million to be provided in 2017-18.In the 2016 Federal election, the Australian Government committed $56 million towards three projects across the state: Oaklands Crossing, Lobethal B-Double Route and Marion Road Planning projects.
  • The budget includes a $10 billion rail fund – of which projects such as the AdeLINK can apply for funding pending submission of a business case still to be submitted by the state government.
