Childcare blowouts to cost parents

New Federal Labor regulation affecting parents in South Australia will potentially increase childcare fees up to $100 a day.

This is a scary reality facing young families and a situation the Federal Liberals warned could occur over 12 months ago.

The new regulations and staffing rules forced on the childcare industry by Federal Labor are pushing fees out of parent’s reach and unfortunately it means that there will be more ad hoc or unregulated care which, absurdly, is the complete opposite of what these national reforms aim to achieve.

My colleague, Sussan Ley, the Shadow Minister for Childcare and Early Childhood Learning has stated that “if the Coalition is elected this year, as well as our Productivity Commission Inquiry into Affordable and Flexible Childcare, I’ll immediately meet with all state and territory ministers to work out where these national reforms are impacting negatively.

We will work with families to ensure that they can have affordable childcare.

If you have concerns about the rising cost of childcare at your crèche, please contact me as I would be most interested to find out more.
