The Local Sporting Champions Program is designed to provide financial assistance to young sportsmen and women participating in state or national sporting competitions or national school sport competitions.
Central to this program is $9,000 a year in grants for metropolitan electorates to help young sports people achieve their sporting goals.
Under the Local Sporting Champions Program, successful individual applicants will receive $500 and successful team applicants will receive $3,000 to contribute towards the cost of travel, accommodation, uniforms or equipment when competing in a nominated sporting competition.
If you know of any young sportsmen and women that are interested in applying for funding under this initiative they can visit the Australian Sports Commission's website at www.ausport.gov.au/champions to make an application online. Alternatively, you can contact my office on 8431 2277 if you would like an application form posted to you.
The application process for the Local Sporting Champions Program is a rolling process whereby young people can apply for funding support at anytime throughout the year.
